Below are some answers to key questions about the 24/7 Youth Film Festival
What does entering the competition involve?
The 24/7 Youth Film Festival comprises of 4 key components:
- Launch, Information and Workshops night – for new participants and any returners wanting a refresher and some skill development from the training
- Online Tips and Tricks
- Competition Weekend
- Screenings and Awards Night
At the Competition Weekend teams must register and make sure they hand in all necessary forms to confirm entry into the festival.
It is at Competition Weekend where the secret rule, locations, phrases and items to be included in to film will be announced.
From here, teams have 24 hours to make a 7 minute or less film. Teams must include various items, locations, phrases and a secret rule in their film.
All film entries that meet the criteria are screened at Hoyts over two nights. The top 10 films that are up for a prize will be played at Hoyts for the Finals Night.
What equipment do I need?
Camera - to shoot and record your footage. Places like 'Camera Hire' in North Manly could be a good hire resource if you do not have your own equipment. It is also NOT necessary to hire professional equipment, past teams have filmed all their footage on an iPhone.
Computer - to transfer film to, edit etc.
USB Drive - for your film to be handed in on.
These are just the basics though. Don’t forget actors, extras, food to get through the 24 hour period and transport.
Will I need my own editing software?
Yes. Most PC’s and Mac’s come with their own editing software.
How do I Enter?
